Thanks Jeannie (I guess I will always call you Jeannie) for thoughts and caring.  I had a 95% stenosis of my LAD, which was quite a surprise.  Like I said in my original posting, I am very fortunate..  The week I had surgery I was supposed to meet Tom and Fred Grau, and Jim Antotnion in Pittsburg for a golf outing.  I guess  that could have been quite the round of golf had I collapsed on the 18th green after making a 40 ft putt to win.  On second thought, better this way and I now have the chance to do it , hopefully, a bunch more times!!!!!

I am remiss, Thanks Jackie, Annie,, Babrbara and everyone who have sent me kind wishes.  Today is day 24, and I am off oxygen and feeling better and stronger everyday.  It is amzing how being able to do little things, like taking your own shower, make you feel sooooo good.

This is for Wayne.  I'm not sure of how to direct it to him.  I have just been reading about your bypass surgery and am so sorry I haven't responded sooner.  Please know that you are in my prayers for a full recovery.  As we all age we never know what surprises are in store for us.  We just need the faith and trust that it takes to survive and endure.  And never lose your sense of humor!  I think that is so important for all healing.  Here's hoping that getting back to the golf course will be in the near future.

Thanks Barb, for your kind words. As I stated it was quite a surprise and progressed very quickly to surgery once discovered.  The first post op week is kind of like a distant memory now, although I do remember it was no walk in the park.  Thanks again.  Wayne

Howdy All, Just a quick update on my post op course.  It has now been 6 weeks and 2 days since my surgery and I feel pretty doggone good.  I have been cleared to pretty much resume normal activity as tolerated.  I have no chest wall pain, no pain with coughing etc.  I do still feel a little tired and some exertional SOB, but not bad.  I have a seroma (collection of lymph fluid inside my right thigh where the vein graft was taken) that was opened to allow drainage, so I have to cleanse it and pack it with guaze 2 times per day.  It is a nuisance but not unusual, and it is totally painless.  It should, hopefully, granulate in within a few weeks.  All in all it has been quite an experience, but not one to be afraid of if you are ever told you need CABG surgery.  If anyone has any questions or concerns, I would be happy to talk with you.  Give me a call. 817-689-8640!  All the best and GO STEELERS!!!!!  Wayne

Hi Wayne

I am thrilled to hear you are doing so well. You are a strong, determined guy and came out of this with glowing results.  We do have to pay more attention to those 'signs' and follow up immediately with a doctor. Just don't rush back into the tennis and golf. Remember for every day you're in the hospital it takes 6 days to recover.

your friend...jackie

Howdy younz'all.  Just a quick note to update you on my post op journey.  It is now 10 weeks, since my surgery and I feel great.  I have started Cardio rehab and played my first round of golf and tennis yesterday.  Once again please let me encourage any of you to get your routine tests which may save and prolong your lives, such as a cardiac stress test (which most definetly benefited me), colonoscopy etc.  I hope my story will make at least some of you think about your health status and hopefully get affirmative and corrective action.  All the best to you and yours.  Wayne

Wayne, Tom, Betty and Joyce, I don't know about you but I find it disconcerting when I see a note saying, "for those of you still here, I hope".  Most of the time I feel young and have many memories and devilish hopes for the future.  Sad news about Harold Becker and what would we due without Jackie keeping us up to date on what is going on with our class.  Hope everyone looks forwrard to another good and exciting year with their friends, family and grand children.  I know I do and I still look forward to days of golf which I did today and a few days of skiing the next two weeks with my son's family and grand kids.  Think young for the coming months and best to all the class of 1963.  Life is life and make the best of all the time we stil have.  Roger Loughran

Is anyone else in the class beside me still working?  I'm planning on beginning my retirement next July 1 (2017).  I will be 72 and plan to keep on teaching part-time.  I know myself well enough to realize that I need a reason to get up in the morning, or I won't.  Summers off have taught me that.  I hope all the members of our class have found themselves financially prepared for retirement and are living happy, comfortable lives.  We all deserve the rest, I'm sure.
