hello red raiders,

Thanks to several of your classmates, the website will continue and is funded for the next ten years without ads!

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Howdy class of 63.  This is just a quick note to gather info.  Who is interested in a 60th class reunion in 2023, probably in early fall?  I anticipate it will just be a very informal gathering, once again at the VFW, but that is all open for discussion and ideas?  We have had a few informal mini reunions over the past several years that were mildly attended but enjoyable for all who attended.  Needless to say, we will need helpers/worker bees/volunteers to put this together.  Obviously if there is little interest we will fogadaboutit!  And hopefully we won't lose to many more classmates,  (David Stumph just passed away.). So the ball is in play.  Please respond to Yvonne Pelino (jpelino@gmail.com) or me (wesdo77@aol.com) or to this web site and be sure to include all your contact info - email - phone numbers - addresses etc.  I for one would love to have a nicely attended function and hope enough of you want one also.  Wishing you all the best in the coming year!  Wayne Schuricht

Howdy All!  So it is time to cut bait or fish!  I hope there is enough life left in those of us fortunate to still be here to HAVE A PARTY!  Let's face it , we are all approaching 80, so let's DO IT! (No, probably not that.). But we can all still enjoy our friendships and comraderie, and catch up with each others lives. So here goes - SAVE THE DATE, Sept 15, 2023 at the VFW in Lower Burrell at about 5:00 PM until .......... A big shout out to Fred Grau for his assistance in procuring the hall.  We are also planning a golf outing/scramble for that morning for anyone interested.  The reunion will be casual, informal, and inexpensive - cash bar and order off the menu.  If there is a charge for the room etc., we will ask everyone for a small donation to cover the cost.  No registration, but obviously it will be good to know who is coming.  There is contact info in the message forum.  I hope you younz all have a great coming year and hope to see you in Sept.  Wayne

Greetings all 63 classmates!!!  Just another quick reminder about our “Mini Reunion” on May29, 2021 qt the VFW in Lower Burrell starting at 6:30 PM (1830 for younz military types!).  It will be completely informal.  We will have our own space so there will be no mingling with a large crowd in the main bar area.  For those who still feel reluctant 2nd to Covid 19, to my knowledge everyone who is attending has had their “shots”, so exposure to the virus should not be a major concern.  If anyone wants to come who has not been vaccinated, please be considerate and wear a mask and we will have masks available for anyone who wants to wear one.  The safety of everyone is obviously important and we will do everything we can to insure it.  I hope to see YOU there!!!  All the best and go Stillers!!!  Wayne

Howdy all 63er’’s!  The time has come to get together!  Fortunately Covid seems to be waning and to my knowledge our class seems to have weathered the storm!  To that end, we are planning another “Mini Reunion” on Sat. Night, May 29 at the VFW in Lower Burrell, thanks to Fred Grau.  All invited, spouses, significant others, pets, kids, grand kids, and even great grands,, cause I am sure there are a few out  there (if they are over 21!!!).It will be totally informal.  Just a great time to meet and reminisce about our great class and the good times.  Food and drinks will be on your own, but we will try to have pizza and wings on hand.  Starting at 6:30 PM until...... we peter out, which for many of us is not 12 midnight anymore.  But probably around 10 o’clock or so.  Yvonne Pelino will be sending out an email blast to the addresses we have.  A reply/conformation/regrets etc. would be helpful in planning obviously.  My email is “wesdo77@aol.com, or Cell Phone is 817-689-8640.  Yvonne’s Cell is 561-307-4177, and her email is ypelino@gmail.com.  If your contact info has changed, please let one of us know!  WOW, I haven’t written this much since BC (before Covid).  I hope each of you is healthy and happy and look forward to meeting again!  Cheers, Wayne Schuricht

Just returned from vacation to the sad news about Bobby Engle. As Russ so eloquently put it, Bob was a saint in every respect, especially for putting up with Miss B's abuse. However, I can remember her speaking of him with great admiration for his talent. In the end, I think all of us choir members came to respect and cherish both of them. Bob was the epitome of professionalism, kindness and patience that the world continues to need, more than ever. It's obvious he cherished his high school days and friendships. I know he'll continue to make great music now for the angels.

I attended Third Ward School on Victoria Avenue when Eddie Saliba was a volunteer firefighter. The fire station was directly across the street from the school and when we would hear the fire siren, we would look out the windows and there went Eddie, running toward the station. He and his brother had Saliba's store on the corner and it was always a delight to shop there for snacks. A Great memory for all of us from Third Ward School. Eddie stayed with the New Kensington Fire Department and passed away as a Chief. If you are interested, this is the link to his tribute ceremony in New Kensington.
